My Mini Testimony

Introduction

In this short story I am sharing with you one of my life's experiences and the wisdom the Lord Jesus has given me through it. My hope and prayer is you will be both blessed and encouraged by this little booklet.

This book is about the saving Grace of Jesus. The Bible is clear. We have all gone astray and we need a savior. There is only one savior, and His name is Jesus. We must call on the name of the Lord to be saved. We must confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to accept Jesus as your Lord and savior now.

My Background

And they overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb,
and by the word
of their testimony;
and they loved not
their lives unto the death.
Revelation 12:11 K.J.V.

I was brought up in a home that was not full of love. It was not a Christian home. I went directly into marriage at the age of nineteen. I remained in my marriage for twenty-three years. It also was not a home full of love.

At the age of forty-two I left my husband and embarked on a single life. I met a man. He taught me how to live and laugh and love and cry. I entered a live-in relationship with him. This relationship was not blessed by God. Along with love, I suffered intense pain.

My boyfriend and I started to go to Church with my sister and her family. I asked God for help with my live-in relationship. God sent me to Jesus.

The Play

My boyfriend and I went to see a presentation of “Heaven’s Gates - Hell’s Flames”. It impacted both of us. It was dynamic and God’s presence was so powerful.

In one scene, a woman was sitting at a table with a beer in one hand and a gun in the other. Her husband had left her and she was in tremendous anguish. She was submerged in a deep depression characterized by self-pity. I related to her pain and suffering. Then I noticed the devil was standing behind her putting these thoughts into her head. He was suggesting she kill herself. She raised the gun to her head, and as if she had no choice, she pulled the trigger. The devil laughed. Then he took her away to Hell.

Born Again

After the production my boyfriend and I went up to the front of the church. We both stood at the alter and prayed the prayer of salvation. We repented of our sins and accepted Jesus as our personal Savior. We asked Jesus to come into our hearts.

I was born again on November 25, 1997 when I accepted Jesus into my heart.

In reply Jesus declared,
"I tell you the truth,
no one can see
the kingdom of God
unless he is born again."
John 3:3 N.I.V.

My Salvation Experience

My salvation experience was glorious. I had always thought being a Christian meant carrying a Bible, going to church on Sundays, and confessing: “I am a Christian”. I was so very, very wrong.

When I said, “Jesus I believe in you, and I ask you to come into my heart”, it was as if someone turned on an incredibly bright light. This light wasn’t blinding, or harsh; this light was warm and beautiful. I could really feel Jesus had entered into my heart. I could feel the blood of Jesus wash over me from the top of my head, slowly down to the tips of my toes. I experienced God’s forgiveness, love, joy and peace I had never known. In that moment I was forever changed.

When I asked Jesus to come into my heart I had faith. The very moment Jesus came into my heart I knew the truth.
  • Jesus is the Son of God
  • Jesus loves me
  • Jesus is real
  • Jesus is alive
  • Jesus  WAS  and  IS  and  IS TO COME

I felt as though the weight of depression had been lifted off my shoulders, and I began to feel something I hadn’t felt in a long, long, time . . . hope.

Walking With Jesus

Spiritual Growth

Over the next two years I attended church regularly, read the Bible, and listened to Christian worship music. During these two years of Christian growth, Jesus shaped and molded me, built me up and gave me strength.

Time to Go

On Monday, February 21st, 2000 my boyfriend and I had another one of many fights and he walked out of the house. Jesus said to me “I am leaving this house now, are you coming with me?” I said “Yes”. I rushed around the house throwing necessities into large green bags, ran out of the house and rented a motel room.

Jesus Carried Me

During the next week Jesus carried me. I continued to go to work Monday through Thursday. I made arrangements for an apartment and a moving company to move my belongings on Saturday.

I spent hours in my motel room listening to Christian music, reading the Bible, writing down my thoughts and feelings, and praying to God. During this time I did not tell anyone I had left my boyfriend. This time was between Jesus and me.

My First Cross

On Friday I signed a one year lease for my apartment. Jesus spoke to my heart and told me it was time to buy my first cross. I went directly from the leasing company to buy it.

I bought a cross with Jesus on it. I identified with Him. It felt as though I too had died with him on that cross.

I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live;
yet not I,
but Christ liveth in me:
and the life which
I now live in the flesh
I live by the faith
of the Son of God,
who loved me,
and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 K.J.V.

I bought an inexpensive cross. A thought went through my mind that this cross was only “for now”.

Obedience

On Sunday evening I went to the prayer meeting. At this meeting Jesus prompted me to share my situation. Even though it was difficult, in obedience to Him, I shared my situation with those who were at the prayer meeting.

My Christian brothers and sisters prayed for me, and also for my boyfriend. Then they offered me financial assistance if I needed it.

Water Baptism

In April 2000 I was water baptised. After my baptism I bought a new cross, one that did not have Jesus on it.
My sister explained to me a cross without Jesus on it signifies Jesus rose from the dead. It signifies HIS victory, our victory, over sin and death.

But thanks be to God!
He gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:57 N.I.V.
