For it is by grace you have been saved,
through faith —
and this not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God—
not by works,
so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 N.I.V.

A couple of months ago our church was working through the Bible Study "3:16" by Max Lucado. One of our assignments was to write a song lyric or poem. In our own words we were to convey the truth: we are saved by God's amazing grace. Works and obeying the law are not enough to make us right with God.
Below is the poem I wrote by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. To God be the glory!
It Is Done!
I’ll consult this powerful mind of mine
and come up with a master plan.
I’ll wash away all my sins
and I’ll be a brand new man!
Oh! . . . I know! . . . I’ll serve . . .
I’ll get in really tight with Him!
When He sees all the work I’ve done
then He will HAVE TO let me in!
So, I worked and worked, and worked and worked,
and then I worked some more.
My mind was getting tired
and my body sure was sore!
Well, I knew this wasn’t working
because I just couldn’t tell.
Can I ever do enough for Him
to save my soul from Hell?
Then I heard about Jesus
and how he died for me. . .
He took my sins to Calvary
and then He died upon a tree.
In my heart I believed
God raised him from the dead
I confessed “JESUS IS LORD”!
Then I knew He died in my stead.
So you can choose to work and work
and work and work some more,
but don’t be deceived for a moment
that will get you through salvation’s door!
Or you can believe God’s salvation plan
through His only Begotten Son
and rest in the blessed assurance
that salvation’s work is DONE!

" . . . I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law;
rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.
For God's way of making us right with himself depends on faith."
Philippians 3:9 N.L.T.
